HOW to APPLY

Thank you for your interest regarding graduate study in Creative Writing at the University of California, Riverside. This page provides information on the procedures involved in applying to the UCR Creative Writing Department Graduate Program.

It is important to consider your interests in the field and the extent to which they are complemented by the interests of our faculty members. The Creative Writing Department Graduate Program provides M.F.A of Creative Writing & Writing for the Performing Arts. Thus, it is important that the research being done at UCR fits well with your interests. If you feel that your interests are reflected in the Department's curriculum, we encourage you to complete the Preliminary Information. The Preliminary Information goes only to the Creative Writing Department and we are sure the faculty would be pleased to evaluate your interests and qualifications before we receive the official graduate school application (which usually takes longer to complete).

If you are ready to apply, please complete the official UCR Graduate School Application. This is the application that serves as the "official" application to the Creative Writing Department's Graduate Program. The UCR Graduate Division provides more information about the official application procedures.

GRE EXAM NOT REQUIRED. Please note that admission into this program DOES NOT require the GRE exam. Applicants with a GPA below 3.20 are encouraged to take the GRE exam to help boost eligibility.
