Judy Z. Kronenfeld's curriculum vitae (PDF format)

Judy Kronenfeld has taught in the Department of Creative Writing since 1984 when it was, in fact, only a Program, and has also taught at UC Irvine, Purdue University and in the English Department here at UCR. A transplanted New Yorker, educated in the East (B.A. summa cum laude, Smith College) and West (Ph.D., Stanford University), with a lifelong love of the writing and study of poetry, she has published a book of poems (Shadow of Wings, Bellflower, 1991) and two chapbooks (Disappeared Down Dark Wells and Still Falling, Inevitable Press, 2000; Ghost Nurseries, Finishing Line, 2005), as well as an in-depth historical-cultural-linguistic study, King Lear and the Naked Truth: Rethinking the Language of Religion and Resistance (Duke, 1998). This book demonstrates the senses in which Shakespeare speaks to a broad audience, as against the polarizing claims of post-structuralist criticism, and because of it, Dr. Kronenfeld was named one of the two recipients of the 1996-97 non-Senate Distinguished Researcher Award.

Judy Kronenfeld’s poems, and the more occasional story or personal essay have appeared in numerous journals including Poetry International, The Women’s Review of Books, The Spoon River Poetry Review, The North American Review, and Under the Sun; her poems have also appeared in quite a few anthologies including Red, White & Blues: Poets on the Promise of America (Iowa, 2004), So Luminous the Wildflowers: An Anthology of California Poets (Tebot Bach, 2003), and Blue Arc West: An Anthology of California Poets (Tebot Bach, 2006). Her work has several times been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Her second full-length collection of poetry, Light Lowering in Diminished Sevenths, won the First Annual Litchfield Review Book Contest, 2007, and is forthcoming in 2008.
